Welcome to my little corner of the web

I began teaching information technology subjects at Bathurst TAFE in February 2005. Before becoming a teacher I had a background in telecommunications. I worked for the OTC as a morse code operator and Telstra as a programmer, and then moved on to become a contractor for Fujitsu, Woolworths and Dutch teleco KPN.

The 'COURSES' link on the left leads to a moodle site - replete with lessons, resouces and assignment questions, including most of the modules I'm currently teaching. ICA05 will take you to a collection of documents describing the full set of IT training package units, along with a couple of extra bits and pieces. MP3 is an ongoing project aimed at collecting training documents and creating MP3 sound files from them. Finally, the WIKI link will take you to my user page on wikispaces, where I have created a couple of collaborative web spaces.

Below: the blogger link leads to an experiment in blogucation - a running commentary on the Certificate IV lessons I'm giving in web development, and clicking on the del.icio.us image will take you to the latest bookmarks I've collected in my ongoing surfing safari.

Lateley I've been experimenting with the AQTF Training Packages, creating Training Packages Unwrapped, a user-friendly interface for generating various formats of the packages, and Training O2, a collaborative resource gathering site where students and trainers can collect, vote on and comment about web-based resources for the subjects they're studying

Some other links, that are more about my secret identity...

  • 'ABACCI' - a set of affiliate sites I built while a member of the grubbiest profession in the world: Internet Entrepreneurs.
  • 'SHOP' - the website for my video game store in Lithgow. My wife and I set up Megalong Games in 2004 and she still runs it while I potter around here in Bathurst.
  • 'MUSIC' - a site I built before I started studying to become a teacher (while I had still had spare time for following artistic persuits). I used to play the mandolin, blues harp, didgeridoo, cello and bagpipes (none of them particularly well). Other hobbies I no longer have time for include: bushwalking, photography, kiteboarding and cycling.

To find out more about me, could could visit this older resume site, which could possibly be the world's slowest-to-update blog.
